This Lunch Toy came about from the fun idea of combining the Hater's Gonna Hate strut with Mickey Mouse. Thus, we got frame by frame Steamboat Willy and a few fun lyrics. Old time-y!
A month later, I discovered that someone made a gif of Mickey Mouse strutting with Haters Gonna Hate above his head. Heartwrenching.
These were the animations used for the title character in the Dwah Federico demo. The lanky, easygoing dude moves with all the grace of NiGHTS and Jack Skellington... ripped through a digital animation program!
By the way, that walk cycle eventually became a frame by frame effort that I'm pretty proud of.
Coming face to face with the Party King is an intimidating experience. The royal is invincible as long as he's partying, and as long as he's partying, you're as good as done for.
Looking back, I'm surprised I got this sheet done as fast as I did. It wasn't even a week after the last action sheet was made and this is all on top of a full work load. Hooooo~!
The coconut bug swings high from its eyestalks, waiting for unsuspecting prey to pass underneath it. The thing is absolutely bizarre looking (more like a pineapple than a coconut) but its lively means of motion and attack help it fit right in with all the other enemies in Dwah Federico.
Moes are pathetic little enemies that couldn't harm a fly... and because of this, haphazardly throw themselves off cliffs. It's hard to harm an adorable little fuzzball when they're willing to do it on their own.
Dwah Federico's gonna be an interesting title, to be sure.
There's very little to this enemy, which made it very interesting to bring to life. As a quick note, the stone spitter does not spit stones, but is, rather, a stone which spits.
When the Dwah Federico project started up over the summer, I was excited to begin characterizing some of the figures that were going to be involved in the game. Federico was pretty solid, so the next figure was DETH. He was supposed to be this unnerving and powerful being that never takes you seriously. A class S jerkwad.
At one point, all the animations broke and the sheet was unusable. It would be a year before I opened the file again to find everything magically in working order. Flash loves making life interesting.
While working on a script for a small play involving pizzas and vespas, the idea came about to turn it into a flash movie. However, it had to capture a particular style that seemed a little out of my reach at the time. The solution was to give things more of a paper cutout feel, replacing any solids with an appropriate texture annnd Semblii was the guinea pig!
The effect is adorable, but achieving it was a little time consuming. Nonetheless, all the files are here and ready for when the project jumps to the top of my stack again!
Semblii appeared in a random burst of inspiration and has been a solid character since. He's a little toy robot, mankind's last hope against the mechanical overlords. Once he was made, plans were put into place to start working on a game. These were the animations that followed.
